Rather than watch that thang on VHS, you can surf for a copy on a good bittorrent racker, such as ISOHUNT... I found it bundled together with another Jim Kelly martial arts flick, "Black Samurai" which was filmed in 1977...

... my favorite part is the "Kung Fi Funeral"... these guys are doing slow martial arts forms during Papa Byrd's (Scatman Crothers) funeral... and to think, Papa Byrd was (in this movie) a great martial artist who had started this school and helped hundreds of kids in the community... didn't know Scatman knew Kung Fu... hahaha

Great review of a fun movie. I still have my old school VHS copy of this flick in the big porno tape type box. I've always got to break this one out and watch it at least once a year.

Yeah, this was really our first blaxploitation movie too and it was a great one to start with. Expect to see a few more in the coming months, including one of my all-time favorites which I will share later!

Jim Kelly was my favorite part of Enter the Dragon too, but I've never gotten around to watching Black Belt Jones. I need to schedule a blaxploitation day... it's one area I've always overlooked, except for a few classics.

It was Poppa Byrd. Scatman's wig was flipping amazing! His death scene could have been one of the funniest things I have seen in awhile. -Neck Punch! It should be a finishing move in one of the Mortal Kombat games.
