Trailer Tuesday: Piranha 3D
As a man there aren't too many things in the movie world that excite me more than boobs and gore! So when a movie comes around that has both, and in mass quanTITIES, I have to go see it. Enemy and I checked out Piranha in 3D last weekend and were pleasantly surprised at how much we both enjoyed it. I didn't want to do a whole review, but it is worth seeing from an entertainment standpoint. There was plenty of nudity (OMG Kelly Brook looked fantastic), and the gore level was way above what we expected based on the trailer and the tameness of recent Hollywood horror films. Some of the deaths were just plain gruesome! The cast includes a very hot looking Elizabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Adam Scott, Jerry O'Connell and Christopher Lloyd.
Nightmare (aka Nightmare in a Damaged Brain)
Not much good can come from a mental patient on the lam. You're either gonna hear about them standing in a busy intersection, swinging a samurai sword and getting subdued by pepper spray, or they're putting themselves or someone else in some pretty big danger. You gotta feel bad for them, especially if it's something that happened in their childhood that caused such emotional harm - and that's exactly George Tatum's problem in Romano Scavolini's 1981 film Nightmare (aka Nightmare in a Damaged Brain).
Slumber Party Massacre
Slumber parties back in the day used to be a fun time to get together with your friends to watch some trash movies, eat a little greasy pizza, tell some ridiculous stories and then wake up your parents because you're all laughing too loud about the whole thing. Maybe you hung with a crowd that would draw penises on the face of the first person who fell asleep or dip their hand in some water to see if they'd piss themselves but it usually wouldn't get more serious than that. More than likely, you wouldn't have to worry about someone systematically stalking and murdering you, your friends, your neighbors and classmates - unless your life was the basis of Slumber Party Massacre!
The Room
Everyone has heard the saying, "you don't know what you've got until it's gone." Well sometimes you can say "you don't know what you've got until you see an article about it on ABC News!" Such was the case a few months ago when the guys here at IB came across The Room. We watched, knowing it was a BAD movie. But I don't think we were quite prepared at the time to appreciate just how bad it is. So after seeing that in a few short months this movie (which is 6 years old) has developed a cult following and is now being called "the Citizen Kane of bad movies", we just had to sit down and watch it again. We now bring to you the brilliant misery that is Tommy Wiseau's lifelong dream, his baby, his masterpiece... we bring you The Room!
