With the 4th installment of Puppet Master we jump back to the present, well the present of 1993. As we know from Puppet Master 3, Andre Toulon has made his way to the United States to escape the Nazi Gestapo. In part 1 Toulon committed suicide at the Bodega Bay Inn to keep his pursuers from gaining the secrets to reanimating the dead. But his formula and research wasn’t completely lost. A group of scientists, including young Rick Myers, are very close to uncovering the secrets to artificial intelligence. To find it they must battle some strange little foes, but not the ones you are probably thinking.
Puppet Master 3 – Toulon’s Revenge is actually a prequel to the first 2 movies both set in America. Although the dates are skewed a bit (1 takes place in 1939), this one takes place in Berlin in 1941. A Lieutenant in Hitler’s army attends Andre Toulon’s puppet show and isn’t too happy with the material, namely the fact that a Hitler puppet is the butt of all the jokes. Lt. Stein confronts Toulon (Guy Rolfe) and tries to get information about how he is able to make his puppets move without strings. He takes some pictures of the puppets without Toulon knowing and reports it back to his superior, Major Krauss (Richard Lynch). Krauss and Dr. Hess (Ian Abercrombie) have been working on a way to reanimate dead German soldiers for help against the Russian army. Unfortunately things haven’t been going too well and they believe Toulon’s work may hold the key.
Attack of the Slime People follows 50’s film director Buddy Flavenoid (Robert Tiffi who was also a writer on the film), who was working as a bathroom attendant. Buddy has a little bit of a screw loose and just got out of prison for murdering an old star of one of his movies that didn’t share Buddy’s vision. Now he is trying to get back into the making horror films after he was approached by someone interested in one of his scripts…
After the great quake, the California beaches are a crazy place. Gangs are scrambling to draw up territorial lines for new turf. The Surf Nazis are the toughest of the gangs, and they’re snatching purses from old ladies, and beating up random dudes who try to stop those petty crimes. At one point they try to unite the gangs “Warriors” style, but they can’t reach an agreement, so it’s back to terrorizing the beaches along with it’s tourists. This time however, they beat up and killed the wrong dude, and now they have Eleanor Washington to deal with, and those Surf Nazis Must Die!
