Timerider: The Adventure of Lyle Swann
I'm a veteran of bad movies. While a lot of these movies are things I've had to search out and find on my own as an adult, there are some that I actually went and saw as a kid in the theater. I saw Timerider: The Adventure of Lyle Swann when I was 5 years old... Talk about scarring a kid for life.
Trancers III
Without any new trancers for a while, Jack Deth (Tim Thomerson) is now working as a private eye in old Los Angeles and Leena (Helen Hunt) is looking to divorce him. He's in a low place, working an adultery case when something strange happens - a lizard looking fella from the future knocks him out and takes him back to his time, a time where another trancer war is in full effect, and a lot of old members of the council have been killed while trying to fend of the new forces. If the fighting continues, the future may not be around for much longer, so they send Deth back to 2005 so he can find and destroy the creators of the trancers and Leena might know who he is.
Trancers II
Hot off the heels of the awesome 1986 sci-fi psuedo zombie flick, Trancers, comes it's 1991 sequel Trancers II. This installment of Trancers is again directed Charles Band, who also wrote the story for both trancers movies so far. Jack Deth (Tim Thomerson) has been living for 5 years in the old Los Angeles, living with Lena (Helen Hunt), cruising around being the hard ass tough guy that Jack Deth is. This time, Whistler's brother has gone back to old California trying to kill off the relatives of future leaders again. Since Deth has been away from the future too long his body is in a calcified state, so in order to get him back on track, they decide to send his boss McNulty (played by career character actor Art LaFleur) to clue Deth into the happenings, and to get him back into the Trancer war.
Trancers
Up for review today is the first of a 6 film series. 1985's Trancers, directed by Charles Band, starring Tim Thomerson (Iron Eagle, and too many other things to mention) as Jack Deth - a trooper sent from the future to the year 1985. Deth is trying to stop a criminal mastermind named Whistler, who controls his victims through some mysterious psychic ability that turns them into zombies. Whistler is trying to go back and kill his enemies ancestors so they're wiped out in his present time.
